Everton manager Roberto Martinez insists Romelu Lukaku did not get down on himself during his five-game dry run.
The Belgian attacker, on loan from Chelsea, netted his first goal in six outings as the Toffees beat Southampton 2-1 at Goodison Park on Sunday.
After the victory, Martinez spoke of Lukaku saying that the club had been trying to add extra parts to his game rather than him simply being a goalscoring striker.
"No - we have been working on other aspects of his game," said the Spaniard when asked if Lukaku's confidence had suffered.
"We have never been in a position where we were getting a little bit worried and thought that was his only role as a striker.
"You want strikers to score goals, but in the same way, he attracts two or three opposition players at the moment, so it is understandable that other players get that stage - players like Seamus Coleman (scorer of the opening goal), who gets into that position really well and takes advantage of it.
"It is a team effort and Romelu has not been down at all - it has been the opposite."
