Everton boss Roberto Martinez dismisses job fears

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has dismissed claims his job is at risk.

Martinez takes his players to League Two side Carlisle in the FA Cup on Sunday seeking a pick-me-up after another route to Wembley went begging this week.

Wednesday's Capital One Cup semi-final exit against Manchester City has left Everton with just one remaining shot at silverware this season.

He said: “I'll always put myself under pressure, because that's the only way I can see myself working on.

“This is my 10th season in management and the pressure for me is exactly the same as it's always been from day one, at Swansea, to here now.

“The pressure may be different, but in all honesty I feel we have got the tools to become successful, and the biggest problem you have as a manager is when you don't have the tools to achieve your aim – it doesn't matter what the aim is.

“The assessment of a team needs to be at the end of a season. Then you need to look at what the assets of a team are, what level the team is playing at, and from that point of view you need to get assessed. As a manager, it is the same thing."
