Everton boss pleased with point against Man Utd

Everton came from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Manchester United at Goodison Park. Toffees boss David Moyes was particularly impressed with his side's second half display.

Darren Fletcher opened the scoring for the champions in the first half but a Marouane Fellaini header equalised for the Toffees in the second period.

He told the club's official website, "It was a lot better by us, especially in the second half. It was a lot more like us and at least you could see more determination.

"A lot of effort went into it and what comes from that at times is good play and good goals, so I'm really pleased by the second half." The Scot also admitted he was happy to take a point from the fixture.

"We had set up in a way to make it as difficult as possible for them to play against us. You can't forget how well they have been playing. They beat Celtic in midweek 3-0 and they were fantastic."

Moyes also explained the difference in the performance in the second half. "What happened was that we put them under pressure and we closed down. It is hard to do that for 90 minutes against Manchester United because they will eventually pick you off."

Moyes felt his side had deserved their point against the current champions. He said: "Sometimes just working hard, which lifts the crowd, means that together you can bring back the sort of atmosphere we've had in the past at Goodison. It would have been a travesty if we hadn't got a point out of it because we earned that in the end."
