Top sports shrink Bill Beswick has praised Everton manager David Moyes for his man-management of the club's young players.
"I've always admired Everton as a real, proper football Club," Beswick told evertonTV. "I've always admired David Moyes and his approach.
"It is a critical career point from the Academy to the reserves and then the senior team. At that stage, a player will be tested in terms of their self-belief, their resilience, and their mental toughness. They need help, but at the same time, Rodwell and players like him have shown those qualities - to go from boy to man - and do a job on a man's pitch.
"I think it's an excellent Academy, which over the years has built very high standards. I think Academies are very important, but it takes a brave manager to take a boy from the Academy and put them on the field. David Moyes did that numerous times this season, and I think all to his credit."
