Everton boss David Moyes has criticised Liverpool defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos for the "terrible tackle" on Marouane Fellaini in the derby. Fellaini, such a key figure this season, is out for the rest of the campaign as he needs ankle surgery following the challenge by the Greek defender at Anfield, for which he was sent off.
Fellaini's absence will leave Moyes short again in midfield, especially after Tim Cahill was forced to come off with a calf problem in the 2-1 victory against Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League round of 32 first-leg match on Tuesday.
Moyes said: "Cahill may have a calf strain, we're not sure of the severity yet."
On Kyrgiakos' challenge, Moyes added: "It was a terrible tackle. We have lost a few players to tackles. It is a blow to us as Marouane will be out for a while."
