Everton boss Dave Moyes believes Harry Redknapp made a canny decision leaving Portsmouth for Tottenham.

Moyes said: "Did anyone really believe that Spurs would stay in the bottom three? Harry wasn't daft, he knew there was a good squad there with a lot of money spent.

"Successive Spurs managers have been given plenty of money to spend, and I assume that will be the same for Harry."

He added: "But if people felt Spurs would not end up challenging at the right end of the table, there was something wrong with them.

"With the squad they have and their finances, of course they will challenge. Harry has gone in there and done well to turn them around, but it would have happened.

"They are a top-six club and anyone who felt differently isn't on this planet.

"I expected them to do it at the start of the season with the players they had, but Harry has done a great job because there was a lack of confidence.

"He has got that back, but Harry's not daft. He knew he was going into a club with a good squad of players."
