Everton boss Moyes pleased with progress of Barkley, McAleny

Everton boss David Moyes was pleased with his youngsters in their win over DC United.

Everton started with teenager Ross Barkley in midfield and brought on Conor McAleny in the second half.

And their performances pleased the manager, with the squad now heading back to England to continue training at Finch Farm.

"I thought they did fine," Moyes told evertonfc.com. "It's actually quite a big thing for them to come here and play. They are excited about playing for Everton. We were pleased with them, I think they did well.

"We aren't ready yet to start (the season) but neither is anyone. Hopefully in three weeks time we will be in the right condition and ready to go."
