Everton boss David Moyes insists Lucas Neill's move to Galatasaray is good business for all parties.
The Blues have made a tidy profit on the 32 year-old, who arrived well into the season on a free transfer from West Ham.
Neill admitted this week he was surprised by the speed at which the move had progressed and Moyes echoed those sentiments.
"It has been a surprise to Lucas and a surprise to us," Moyes told evertonfc.com. "I think it was Sunday when I was contacted to say that Galatasaray had an interest.
"I felt that because Lucas was only here on a short contract that it was right that I let him know. I gave him permission to see if he could do a deal with Galatasaray and he could. So from that point of view it moved on from there.
"I felt that it was right. I was very straight with Lucas when he joined us on what I expected so I felt that when someone came in I should tell him and I have done so."
