Everton boss David Moyes has been in talks with Manchester United for over a month.
Moyes is set to be confirmed today as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor as Manchester United manager.
The Daily Star says Moyes, 50, is out of contract at Everton at the end of the season and is viewed as the ideal man to take over the Red Devils.
It is understood that talks between Moyes and United have been going on for the last four weeks and he has agreed a three-year deal worth an initial £55,000 a week.
The plan had been to keep news of the agreement quiet until the end of the season to avoid any risk of upsetting Everton's push for a European finish.
