Everton boss David Moyes has no doubts Manchester United star Wayne Rooney will control his temper at the World Cup.
Rooney has come under fire this week for losing his rag in the warm-up game against Platinum Stars when he was booked for swearing at the ref.
However, Moyes believes Rooney will keep himself the right side of the law once the tournament kicks off.
He said: "Wayne has grown up and matured in terms of his temperament. He'll know, for sure, that he is going to be targeted at this World Cup more than he has ever been.
"Unlike four years ago when he got sent-off against Portugal in the quarter-finals, he will be ready for it and he won't fall into the same kind of trap. Of course with Wayne you get a passion and commitment that makes him explosive at times.
"You will always have that and thank goodness for it. It is his desire that helps take him above so many other great players. He is more under control as a person. He's older, after all. He's learned. Make no mistake, some teams will be going out to get him, or to get him at it.
"He'll be completely aware of that and he'll know better how to cope with it because he already knows the consequences of losing his cool in the battle.
"He knows how much England rely on him. So he's got a lot of responsibility on his shoulders.
"But he'll carry that load. Not only that, he's happy to carry the load. It's what he wants, and what he wanted when he was still a teenager with us."
