Everton boss Dave Moyes says Joleon Lescott has the ability to match England stars Rio Ferdinand and John Terry.

Moyes said: "Joleon is improving and the next step for him is to become someone who can command respect the way Terry does.

"I even look at Rio Ferdinand and see that he has become more of a leader at Manchester United.

"They are dominant on the pitch and Joleon's next step is to do that at Everton.

"He does that with continued consistent performances, taking more responsibility for the team.

"His performances are showing a maturity. He is a really conscientious footballer who is always trying to improve himself.

"It is a good feeling to have players around you who you feel want to listen."
