Everton boss David Moyes is planning a £6 million bid for Rennes fullback Rod Fanni.

The Sun says Moyes was in France on Wednesday night to have a first-hand look at Fanni in Rennes' 3-2 home defeat by Bordeaux.

A Rennes insider said: "Mr Moyes was here and we understand he's interested in Rod. We'll see what will happen at the end of the season."

Fanni, 27, has two years left on his contract and has been an ever-present in the French league this season.

He has also broken into the France first team and has earned two caps.
