Everton boss David Moyes says Phil Jagielka showed England form in victory over Fulham.
Moyes believes the centre-half can still improve, he is convinced he has international quality.
"He should be looking to establish himself for England," said Moyes. "There are some things he needs to improve on if he wants to be right at the top but he knows what he can do and overall I thought his performance today was excellent - as was that of Leighton Baines.
"Jagielka now needs to drive himself on to be that leader. I think he should be looking to cement himself as a future Everton captain. He's got to now start looking to be a leader."
