Everton boss David Moyes insists problems off the pitch are not to blame for their defeat to QPR.
He said financial constraints are not an excuse for Everton's poor start.
"I don't think the situation with the finances changed the mood of the club," Moyes said. "The players were aware of it. They knew the situation. We have said amongst ourselves that we are not going to use it as an excuse or even a reason for if we don't play well, because it is the same players as last season.
"We won't be feeling sorry for ourselves. When we went on to the pitch on Saturday it was nothing to do with what had or hadn't been done. We just didn't perform well enough on the day to get three points."
