Everton boss David Moyes admits the club's connection with Rangers worked a treat in their deal for Nikica Jelavic.

Jelavic has been a revelation since joining Everton in January.

Moyes enthused: "We have needed him and are very happy with what he has done for us. He was well recommended by people like (former Everton and Rangers defender) Davie Weir and (former Everton and Rangers manager) Walter Smith. We had £5million to spend and we spent it wisely."
