Everton boss Dave Moyes is happy for Alan Irvine after his assistant accepted the manager's post at Preston North End.

Moyes told evertonfc.com: "I would like to thank Alan for all the hard work he has done here at Everton and for all the help he has given me during the last five years.

"I have enjoyed working with him very much and he goes with my blessing to Preston North End where I hope he will be successful.

"He did a very good job for us and the opportunity to go to Preston was one that I wouldn't want to deny him."
