Everton boss David Moyes was delighted with the performances of Royston Drenthe and Apostolos Vellios in victory over Fulham.
Moyes has been keen to ease them into the rigours of Premier League football but felt the time was right at Fulham to draft them in in place of Tim Cahill and Louis Saha.
Moyes told evertonfc.com: "They both did okay. We brought in young Tolis, as we call him, because he had been scoring goals and we wanted to freshen it up. Louis and Tim hadn't scored for a long time so we were looking to see if we could find other ways.
"And we felt Seamus needed a bit of a breather so we brought Royston in. From that point of view it worked, because Royston got us a goal and he was always a threat when he was going forward.
"We hoped when we brought him here that he would bring that to us once he got into the season and got used to the speed of the Premier League and the intensity."
