Everton boss Dave Moyes is facing the prospect of shopping at the low end of the market in January.
Moyes said: "I am always looking to add but I think we'll be one of the clubs which doesn't have money to spend in January. The number of players coming out of contract at the end of the season may help. But in January they can still cost a lot of money, while if you wait until May you can get them for nothing.
"Football is suffering like every other industry so there may be a lot of players hoping for big money who find the wages they hope for aren't there now and decide to leave."
