Everton boss David Moyes wants to lift the place with a new striker signing.

He is monitoring the situation with Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard, who has been made available by his club after turning down a new contract, and is scouring Europe for an affordable hit-man, says the Liverpool Echo.

Moyes said: "I am trying to get a centre-forward in and that would certainly lift the mood. We know that we are a little bit short and if we could get someone in it would help us, if we can't then we will keep going."
