Everton boss Dave Moyes doesn't expect to make any big signings in January.
"I don't think we will be selling because we don't have the numbers. We are short at this present time and that limits what I can do off the bench."
Moyes says he's not frustrated by this scenario - instead pointing out that it is an additional test of his managerial qualities.
"Not every football manager is given money and part of the job is to show you can work without it - and I am happy to do that," he declared.
"Unless something changes we aren't going to have a sugar daddy who will throw money at it, so what we have to do is good housekeeping and hope the manager can pick up a couple of players on the cheap who will improve the squad.
"You hope the players who are there will continue to improve and squeeze every last inch out of them."
