Everton boss David Moyes is delighted with Seamus Coleman's new contract.
It was announced on Monday morning that the 24-year-old had inked a new five-and-a-half year deal with the Blues which will extend his stay at Goodison Park until the summer of 2018.
"I'm really pleased," Moyes told evertonfc.com. "He has worked really hard since we brought him in from Ireland and he deserves his contract.
"We brought him in as a right-back, he has played wide right but has got his games at full-back this season. We know he can do a job is both positions. He is a young boy and hopefully he can get better.
"He has a long way to go to get to the level Leighton Baines is at the moment. But that's why we have kept him for a long time because we do see that there is a good chance for improvement there.
"We got him for very little money - £60,000 from Ireland - and so it has been great business by our scouts to spot him and bring him in."
