Everton boss Moyes defends Howard after derby gaffe

Everton boss Dave Moyes refused to criticise Tim Howard after their 1-1 FA Cup draw with Liverpool.

Howard let Gerrard's 54th-minute shot squeeze under him and in at the near post.

But Moyes refused to blame the keeper. He insisted: "Tim was great before that and he has been great for us on a lot of occasions.

"He knows he should have done better with the goal, but we all make mistakes.

"And sometimes you have to hold your hands up and admire a piece of skill. The flick from Fernando Torres to put Gerrard away was just exquisite."
