Everton boss David Moyes has hinted Wayne Rooney was dropped by Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
Moyes suggested that Ferguson had intended to punish Rooney for dragging the club through the mire over the past week.
Moyes said: "I don't think you should put it all on the crowd. The manager there knows what he is doing, so perhaps he was just making sure everybody realises that if you play for Manchester United you have to conduct yourself in a manner, and our club doesn't really care who you are."
