Everton boss Dave Moyes has likened his captain Phil Neville to Chelsea and England skipper John Terry.
The manager believes his much criticised £3.5million signing from Manchester United three years ago can be crucial in turning things round.
"People wouldn't understand how good a skipper he is," said Moyes. "He came here with brilliant habits. He wants to win.
"His preparation is as good as I've seen from a professional. Every game, the preparation is the same. His eating, his recovery, his rest - he's preparing for longevity in his career if he can. All young players should look at how he does that.
"Phil Neville is one of the last type of leaders in football. There's not many like him at football clubs these days.
"There are the John Terrys and Jamie Carraghers of this world, but there is a lack of that type of personality in football now. But Phil has still got that."
