Everton boss Moyes: Coaching philosophies load of rubbish

Everton boss David Moyes says talk of a coach's 'philosophy' is a load of hogwash.

Moyes believes successful managers need to adjust to the talent at their disposal.

"People often talk about a coach's philosophy but generally I think managers look at the players they have and then decide on their style. In Everton's first 10 years in the Premier League, they only finished in the top 10 once. We've now been there eight times out of 10. When I took over, my job was to win games by hook or by crook so that I didn't get sacked," Moyes told the Daily Mail.

"The team didn't have the calibre to play the football we do now. Then you can evolve and get better, with defenders who are more comfortable on the ball or more attacking full-backs. Now the level of player I have allows me to play in a different way. I can send Baines further on because I can trust my centre backs more."
