Everton boss Dave Moyes says new signing Leighton Baines is close to a debut.

The recent arrival from Wigan did not figure against his former club on Saturday because of a niggling hamstring strain.

Moyes told evertonfc.com: "We are looking forward to getting him back. He trained for the first time today but he will need a week before we can really consider him. There has been no problem with him settling in and he has one or two friends here.

"We seem to be okay after the weekend. James McFadden has done some training and I can add him to the squad although he has missed a lot of pre-season work. But because of the shortage up front I will be bringing him into the squad."
