Everton boss Moyes aware of European interest for Saha

Everton boss David Moyes is attempting to keep a lid on Louis Saha's contract speculation.

The Daily Express says rumours that Arsenal and Liverpool were among clubs monitoring Saha's situation have reached fever pitch on Merseyside during the past fortnight with little obvious foundation.

Bordeaux, themselves set to lose star striker Marouane Chamakh on a free transfer, are considering taking Saha back to France. Roma have also registered their interest.

Moyes was laid-back about the subject yesterday, but his demeanour could also be interpreted as a sign he has yet to be fully convinced Saha would be worth such a huge financial investment.

"There are things going on at the moment," said Moyes. "The negotiations are on-going with the chairman and Louis's representatives. It doesn't need to be resolved right now because he is under contract until the end of the season. There's no great rush.

"If he went abroad he can sign a pre-contract but he can't in this country. I don't see it being too big an issue."
