Everton boss Dave Moyes admits his squad may need time to gel after his raft of signings last week.
Maroune Fellaini, along with Louis Saha, Segundo Castillo, Lars Jacobsen and Carlo Nash, will have to adjust to life at the club quickly with Everton's Premier League campaign already up and running.
"It shouldn't be frenetic, because you should have your work done well before then," said Moyes.
"That is my idea. We have put ourselves in this position where we have got all these new players too late.
"I'm glad we've got them but it makes it difficult for them settling in. A couple of them don't speak English at present, and don't know their team-mates, so communication is a problem.
"It's fine getting them, but I have got to say it doesn't make it easy. If we had got them in pre-season then we could have helped integrate them and helped them understand how we work."
