Everton boss Moyes admits Arteta spotkick took him by surprise

Everton boss David Moyes admits he was surprised seeing Mikel Arteta take their matchwinning penalty at Blackburn Rovers.

Arteta stepped up in injury-time to score the only goal of the game.

Moyes admitted he had been surprised when Arteta stepped up to take the match-wining penalty, instead of regular taker Leighton Baines.

"Yeah I was (surprised), because Bainesy normally takes them," he added.

"Players are players, aren't they?

"I don't really care as long as it goes into the back of the net. I might have had something to say if it doesn't.

"He scores so it's fine.

"We know we have to play better than that. But the important thing in the end was the result and we got that."
