Everton boss Roberto Martinez has urged John Stones to ignore the praise coming his way.

Stones was superb for victory on Sunday against Manchester United.

"The expectations from the outside don't matter," Martinez said. "They don't bother me at all.

"The expectations internally are the ones that matter.

"Our fans know John inside out and didn't need to see him perform against Manchester United to know what a diamond we have.

"But John is level-headed and he knows the areas in which he needs to improve."
