Roberto Martinez was remaining quiet regarding John Stones' future as an Everton player.
The highly-rated 21-year-old defender is the subject of serious interest from Chelsea who have already seen a bid of £20million turned down by the Toffees.
Martinez is adamant that Stones is not for sale but refused to answer questions regarding the England international when speaking to Sky Sports News HQ after his side defeated Heart of Midlothian 3-1 in a pre-season friendly at Tynecastle on Sunday, instead commenting on his plans to perhaps bring one or two new players in at Goodison Park.
"We always try to look for new arrivals and I feel we are looking for two positions to try to strengthen, but it is a good period to assess the younger players," he said.
"At the moment with where we are, we're trying to have that consistency in our group. We've been working really hard in the last two seasons to do that, I think we've got a very good balance in experience and young talent that they already have big roles in the team and we want to maintain that, and if anything add extra strength to our strong core that we have."
