Everton boss Roberto Martinez has made Heerenveen midfielder Hakim Ziyech a prime transfer target.
The Liverpool Echo says he was extensively scouted by the Blues in the closing weeks of the 2013-14 season.
The Dutch international, who just missed out on the Netherlands World Cup squad, would cost around £2.5million and is also being monitored by Ajax and PSV Eindhoven.
Ziyech has the positional flexibility valued by Martinez, being able to play in any attacking roles across the midfield, which is a key area where the Blues manager is looking to strengthen his squad.
