Everton boss Roberto Martinez has been commenting on Swansea head coach Garry Monk, who was captain at the Swans under Martinez's management. "I built a squad around him, he was the perfect captain. It is a nice twist to see him in the dugout.
"He had that leadership, that DNA of being able to control a group. Being a captain in a club like Swansea where so involved with the community, it prepares you for that.
"Garry always responded very well. Last few months, he has been able to look around from a distance and get a good method of work. It didn't surprise me.
"Garry has always been a responsible character in the dressing room. He doesn't need any advice. He is very thorough and knows exactly what he wants. He has a real respect from the club and that is vital."
