Everton boss Martinez insists no deal for Spartak Moscow's McGeady

Everton boss Roberto Martinez insists no pre-contract has been agreed with Spartak Moscow winger Aiden McGeady.

McGeady was said to be undergoing medical tests at Goodison Park yesterday.

Asked whether the Spartak Moscow winger is currently having tests on Merseyside, Martinez said: "I don't think so, unless I haven't been told.

"The situation is that he [McGeady] is still registered with another football club and I'll never, ever be disrespectful to any other football club by speaking about a player who is registered with another club. Aiden fits into that category.

He added: "We are hoping to bring in one or two faces to cover an area where we are going to be a little bit weaker in the second half of the season.

"We are close but it's not a matter of rushing things. We know exactly what we want and we will try to make it happen if we can.

"This window we have got something to lose rather than gain in adding players for the sake of it. It has got to be a very well measured window but obviously we don't want to lose any of the top performers so far this season.

"We have got to make sure the squad doesn't become affected by bringing the wrong personality into the Club."
