Everton boss Roberto Martinez is excited by the potential of Brendan Galloway.

Galloway is in line for his 10th Everton appearance this weekend - in Sunday's Merseyside derby no less - and has impressed throughout in the absence of Leighton Baines.

"I think it's a really nice and worthy reward," Martinez told evertonfc.com.

"Brendan has been developing all the time. He's an athlete and physically for any young player it takes time to adapt to the league.

"In the last two games, we have seen Brendan in full flow. To be able to play 90 minutes and bringing an easy way of play on the pitch.

"More than anything now I have been impressed with his defensive urgency. Being called up for England Under-21s at that age is very significant and for a teenager you can imagine how delighted we are of all the landmarks that are coming his way."
