Everton boss Ronald Koeman is delighted with their deal for Swansea City defender Ashley Williams.

Koeman claims Everton have signed the ideal leader in Williams.

Williams, 31, has completed his £12million transfer from Swansea, signing a three-year deal at Goodison Park, and Koeman says the Wales skipper is just the sort of character they need.

“We wanted to bring in a strong player in the central defence position, a player who knows the Premier League and Ashley fits the bill for us very well," said the Blues boss.

“He's an experienced defender and the kind of player we need in the team. He's a leader. He showed this at Swansea and he has shown it for his country and he's looking forward to his new challenge here at Everton."
