Everton boss Sam Allardyce has identified major weaknesses in the squad he has inherited.
Everton are expected to wrap up a deal for Turkey forward Cenk Tosun from Besiktas to open the imminent transfer window.
But whatever their business in January, Allardyce insists only a hectic summer can put Everton in the shape he will expect in order to climb the table.
Asked when Everton can expect to have a team worthy of their manager's expected approach, Allardyce said: "The start of next season when it's all been sorted out in the summer.
"There's a lot to sort out, a lot to do and a lot to find out about the players, so we'll have to talk about it with the owners and the board and see where we go and what we do."
