Everton, Arsenal chasing Real Madrid's Van der Vaart

Everton and Arsenal are being linked with Real Madrid midfielder Rafael van der Vaart.

It was announced yesterday that the Dutchman would remain in Madrid until January, at least.

However, the Daily Mail says Van der Vaart is without even a squad number after the arrival of the galaticos Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema at the Bernabeu and his lawyer, Robert Geerlings, says he favours a move to the Premier League rather than a return to the Bundesliga, where he was successful with SV Hamburg.

Ideally, Van der Vaart would want to move to another Champions League side and is hoping that Arsenal make a late move for him but, with the clock ticking down on the transfer window, Everton may step in.
