Four Premiership clubs are chasing Manchester United striker Alan Smith.

United have opened new contract talks with their England man, who has Everton, Tottenham, Middlesbrough and Sunderland all chasing his signature.

Everton boss Dave Moyes believes £8million-rated Smith would make a big impact with Goodison Park fans and form a potent partnership with Andy Johnson - but he knows he has a big job to persuade Sir Alex Ferguson to part with the 26-year-old former Leeds player.
