Everton midfielder Leon Osman is determined to remain in England's plans for their World Cup qualifying campaign.
Osman believes manager Roberto Martinez's appointment will force him to step up his game - to the benefit of his England hopes.
He told the Liverpool Echo: "First and foremost I need to force my way into the Everton team and that's a big step as everyone knows. You're starting again and you've got to impress. It certainly makes you get back on your toes and that's refreshing,
"Then after finally making the step-up into the England squad it's only whet my appetite for more and it was so disappointing having to miss out at the end of last season (through injury). There's nothing I can do about it now I just need to play well and force my way back in."
