Aberdeen manager Craig Brown is not too perturbed about the negative feedback he has copped in recent times.
The Dons sit ninth on the Scottish Premier League table having won just three matches since the start of December, prompting criticism to be directed at the boss.
But Brown admits it does not bother him too much as even the greatest manager of them all - Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson - was on the receiving end of plenty a rollicking from the fans during his spell at Pittodrie.
"You must accept that fans will get upset when the results don't go as expected but I must stress that not everyone has been negative towards me," he said.
"The criticism isn't as bad as I've seen some managers receive over the years.
"I even saw Sir Alex Ferguson come in for some terrible abuse when I worked with him in his time with Scotland.
"Archie Knox said that Alex was also a target for abuse when he was at Aberdeen. The fans turned on him after losing to Airdrie in the League Cup in 1984.
"Jim Leighton, who played in that game, remembers Fergie being booed mercilessly at the finish. We are talking about a man who had already won two European trophies and would go on to win a third league that season.
"When you consider all of that, what is happening to me is nothing to be concerned about. I'm indifferent to criticism anyway.
"Doubting me now seems pretty strange because I'm doing exactly the same as I did when leading Motherwell back into Europe.
"However, it is better for the fans to direct their anger towards me and not the team as that could hit confidence."
