Europe's top clubs will come together in Switzerland on Tuesday to discuss the prospect of holding the 2022 World Cup over summer.
The FIFA tournament in Qatar is currently scheduled to be held in the usual World Cup months of June and July but soaring temperatures in the Middle East may force a change of plans.
A FIFA task force has recommended the tournament in seven years' time be moved to November and December which will be deliberated over by the European Club association (ECA) at a meeting on Tuesday.
The ECA's chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: "European clubs and leagues cannot be expected to bear the costs for such rescheduling.
"We expect the clubs to be compensated for the damage that a final decision would cause."
