There were narrow wins for Liverpool and Newcastle but Tottenham drew again in the competition leaving them fighting to progress in the Europa League. The Italians were given the lead by an own goal from Giourkas Seitaridis and looked set to clinch the points until the Greek late show.

Inter Milan needed a late winner from Rodrigo Palacio in the 88th-minute to overcome Partizan Belgrade 1-0 at the San Siro.

Inter joint are now joint top of Group H on seven points with Rubin Kazan who had a 1-0 home success over Azerbaijan side Neftci in Russia.
