Celtic have failed to overcome Red Bull Salzburg in their opening Europa League fixture of the 2014/15 season.
The Scottish champions twice squandered the lead in Austria to eventually be held to a 2-2 draw at the Red Bull Arena in their first Group D outing.
The Hoops took the lead in the 14th minute when Ghanaian winger Wakaso Mubarak, in his first start for his loan club, when running onto a lovely ball from Kris Commons to fire home for his debut goal.
However, Celtic's lead lasted less than 20 minutes as Salzburg responded through Brazilian striker Alan whose effort from the edge of the area deflected off Efe Ambrose and in past Craig Gordon.
On the hour-mark, Celtic restored their advantage via skipper Scott Brown who thundered home a volley after Callum McGregor's cross had not been properly cleared.
But with 12 minutes remaining, the Austrians levelled again when Jonathan Soriano converted with a classy free-kick to give his side a deserved share of the points.
It was a solid start to the group stage by both sides but they will both be looking to record three points when Celtic host Dinamo Zagreb on October 2 when Salzburg head to Romania to take on Astra.
