EUROPA LEAGUE: Stoke clear on top in Europa after win in Tel Aviv

Stoke City have gone four points clear in top of Group E in the Europa League thanks to a 2-1 away at Maccabi Tel Aviv tonight.

Dean Whitehead gave the travelling Potters a lift when he ran onto a Salif Diao pass, which was meant for Jonathan Walters, before slotting home in the 51st minute before Peter Crouch doubled Stoke's lead 13 minutes later when he turned in Wihtehead's cross just a few minutes after coming off the bench.

The home side pulled one back in injury time through Roberto Damian Colautti's header but it was not enough to deny Stoke a famoy\us away win which puts them on 10 points from four outings in the Europa League group stage.

The win has Tony Pulis' men on the verge of qualifying for the knockout stages as they are five points clear of third-placed Dynamo Kyiv who they host on the December 1.
