EUROPA LEAGUE QUALIFIER 1st LEG: Tottenham put five past Hearts

Tottenham all but confirmed their passage into the next phase of the Europa League after a crushing Hearts 5-0 at Tynecastle. Tottenham may have yet to start their Premier league campaign due to the riots in London but they quickly made light of their first competitive game of the season being three goals clear by half-time.

Rafael van der Vaart opened the scoring on five minutes with Jermain Defoe and Jake Livermore added to the scoreline before the break.

Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon completed the demolition of their Scottish opponents in the 63rd and 78th minute to make the second leg at White Hart Lane a virtual formality.
