EUROPA LEAGUE: Plucky Stoke concede in injury-time at Dynamo Kiev

Stoke City were just minutes away from causing an upset in the Europa League against Dynamo Kiev tonight.

The Potters eventually conceded an injury-time equaliser in the Ukrainian capital to be held to a 1-1 draw in their Group E opener after leading from the 55th minute.

Cameron Jerome scored his first goal for Stoke since he joined from Birmingham City when he received Ryan Shotton's pass from the right and struck it neatly into the top right corner which was one of just two shots on target for the visitors.

The goal came after Kiev dominated the opening 45 minutes and the home side finally managed to pierce the resilient Potters defence when Ognjen Vukojevic stabbed home Andriy Yarmolenko's injury-time cross at the back post.

Kiev had over 25 attempts at goal with 13 on target, making it a busy night for Stoke keeper Thomas Sorensen, who almost held on for a seventh clean sheet for Tony Pulis' side this season.

Nonetheless, it was another decent performance by the boys from Britannia Stadium who kicked off their Group E campaign with a point they would not have expected.
