Eden Hazard has told his Belgium team-mates they must win Euro 2016 to justify their tag as the nation's 'golden generation', reports the London Evening Standard.

Two years ago they flattered to deceive as they were knocked out by Argentina in the quarter-finals.

The Chelsea star, who is captain due to Vincent Kompany being ruled out with a calf injury, said: "With this generation, if we want to write history, we have to do something.

"We know the mistakes we made in Brazil and we don't want to make the same ones now.

"We have a lot of good players with experience and young players. Almost all of us play in big teams in Europe, we have a good manager, we have everything to be the best team in Europe. If we work together we can do something.

"We have all been playing together for four or five years. We have a great connection together, most of us play in the Premier League and against each other every week.

"It's good, we are happy when we meet together, everyone is happy to play in this Belgium side now."
