Joe Hart says the England players will thoroughly deserve the criticism that comes their way in the wake of Monday's defeat to Iceland.
The Three Lions were embarrassingly beaten 2-1 by the Nordic minnows in the Round of 16 at Euro2016 and their early exit from the competition will certainly be the subject of plenty of negativity.
As per usual, England have underachieved massively at a major tournament and the entire squad will be in the firing line for the critics, which goalkeeper Hart says is fair enough.
"There's nothing we wanted more than to have done well in this tournament but they're just words and I said that before the tournament – they're just words," he told TheFA.com.
"We were in a good place – we've been in a good place in a lot of tournaments I've gone to but we haven't ultimately done it so we're going to get a lot of flak for it and we deserve it.
"It's about growing as players – a lot of young players will learn from this and hopefully learn from it quickly and try and bring English football back to where it belongs but right now we've put it at a low point and we're going to have to take that.
"We win and lose as a group, we're together as a unit and we've worked hard ultimately with no success so that's how this team's going to be remembered at the moment. It's going to be down to digging deep and going again and trying to build something new."
