Euell receives apology from Stoke over alleged racist comments

Stoke City have apologised to Blackpool striker Jason Euell following a touchline incident involving a supporter at the Britannia Stadium on Tuesday, reports The Sentinel. Club officials have expressed dismay that Euell was the victim of an alleged racist comment which led to a supporter being led away by stewards and then detained by Staffordshire Police during the Carling Cup tie against Blackpool.

The supporter has since been bailed until the middle of next month while police continue their investigations.

Potters chief executive Tony Scholes confirmed that the supporter would be banned while police decide upon their course of action.

Scholes said: "On behalf of Stoke City Football Club, I would like to apologise to Jason Euell, and indeed Blackpool Football Club."
